THE NEXT 50 ANNOUNCES POWERHOUSE CLASS OF BATTLEGROUND LEGISLATIVE ENDORSEMENTS

For Immediate Release

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, The Next 50 announced its latest additions to their 2025-2026 endorsement class which includes seven exceptional state legislators in battleground races who are charting a new path forward for Democrats.

The announcement reflects The Next 50’s commitment to going long on proven leaders: all are re-endorsements of leaders who have already demonstrated their ability to deliver results for their communities.

State Legislative Battleground Leaders: North Carolina State Representative Dante Pittman, Michigan State Representative Mai Xiong, Illinois State Representative Nabeela Syed (running for State Senate), Arizona State Representatives Stephanie Simacek and Lorena Austin, Alaska State Representative Robyn Burke, and Texas House candidate Kristian Carranza.

“These are the Democrats who know how to win tough races and deliver once in office,” said Mari Manoogian, Executive Director of The Next 50. “From flipping legislative seats in North Carolina to passing meaningful legislation in Michigan to expanding the coalition government in Alaska, these leaders are proving that next-generation Democrats can compete and win in competitive districts—and then get to work solving problems that matter to everyday Americans. We’re doubling down on this proven leadership because that’s how we build long-term power and rebuild trust with voters.”

“I am thrilled to be endorsed by The Next 50 as we continue to work to move North Carolina forward,” said North Carolina State Representative Dante Pittman. “I remain committed to fighting for a state that has quality public education, affordable living options and economic opportunities for all who want it. We have a lot of work to do in this state and I am proud The Next 50 is once again joining that fight.”

“I am deeply honored to receive the endorsement of The Next 50,” said Michigan State Representative Mai Xiong. “Their trust in my vision for Michigan strengthens my resolve to serve with integrity, advance policies that uplift every community, and defend democratic values. Thank you for standing with me in this re-election campaign. I look forward to working together for a stronger Michigan.”

Their belief in next-generation leaders means so much, and I’m proud to be part of a movement that focused on real impact.”

“I’m honored to have the support of The Next 50, their unwavering commitment to democratic values, equity, and justice and their work on the front lines of real change inspires me every day,” said Arizona State Representative Stephanie Simacek. “Together, we’re building a movement for a stronger, more inclusive future where everyone has a voice, a vote, and a fair shot.”

“I am grateful to The Next 50 for their endorsement,” said Arizona State Representative Lorena Austin. “They were a key partner in winning AZ LD-09 last cycle.
